Political science - Profile


The Department of Political Science was established in 1972, along with the introduction of the Bachelor of Arts programme. The department has a long tradition of imparting knowledge in the field of political theory, constitution, governance, public administration, and international relations.

The college is historically associated with the educational vision of the social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam, whose ideals emphasized modern education, social reform, and democratic values. Inspired by this legacy, the Department of Political Science has consistently worked to promote constitutional awareness, civic responsibility, and analytical thinking among students.

With the implementation of the National Education Policy-2020, the department has adapted its curriculum to the Single Major framework, emphasizing flexibility, multidisciplinary learning, skill development, and outcome-based education.

The Department organize various systematic and scientific project works on contemporary Local to International Issues, Student seminars, Field trips, Mock Parliament, Group Discussions, Elocution, and other awareness programmes among the students.
